SHARE YOUR FAITH WITHOUT FEAR

Have you ever been in a situation when someone brought up the question “Are you a Christian?” and you didn’t speak out because you were afraid you wouldn’t know what to say? You’re not alone. Christians everywhere have had witnessing opportunities slip by, and then are faced with that nagging, inner question “What if?”

In one of NewHope's up and coming “Share Your Faith Without Fear” workshops, we will present a simple, non-threatening outreach approach that can help Christians proclaim their faith with confidence and bring those that they meet into the Kingdom. This three-phase approach, taken from William Fay’s book, “Sharing Jesus without Fear,” has been used with multitudes of people.

Christians have two main misconceptions about their faith, both of which can strongly impact how they live out one of God’s purposes for their life – evangelism.

Myth #1: I failed at witnessing if they don’t cross the line and accept Christ as Saviour.
Success in evangelism has nothing to do with how many people actually accept Christ. Success is being obedient to God and “always be(ing) prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” Peter 3:15

II Corinthians 5:20 says “We are therefore Christ’s Ambassadors and he makes his appeal through us.” What are ambassadors? They are messengers. We are messengers of God’s truth. We take God’s message to people that need to hear it. If they reject it, they don’t reject us, they reject Him.

If the person doesn’t commit his or her life to Christ right away, it doesn’t mean you weren’t effective. You planted a seed. You were obedient in doing what God had called you to do. God called you to tell people about Christ. How they react isn’t in your hands. The Holy Spirit changes hearts.

Myth #2: I don’t have a “gift” for evangelism.
While not every Christian feels he or she has the ability to easily share the gospel and call for a decision, every Christian has been commanded to: “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,” 1 Peter 3:15.

The simplicity of “Sharing Your Faith Without Fear” is that it provides a way to use God’s Word in a non-threatening way. It is the Holy Spirit who uses scripture to do the convincing and the convicting. Our part is to share. God’s part is to draw them. "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him… ” John 6:44

Success then is NOT leading someone to Christ. Success is acting out your Christian life, sharing the gospel and trusting God for the result.
